A happy accident that fell out of an original idea for an event called International Drone Day (www.internationaldroneday.com) thrown together by loving drone enthusiasts David and Sarah ONeal. A group in Sussex in the UK threw thier local event on International Drone Day and called it www.miniatureairshow.com, and brought out of the woodwork a huge crowd of enthusiastic remote control flyers.

They all stuck to our twitter and social media feeds and stayed in touch, and so we thought it would be interesting to try another gathering a few months later.

This time Sky News came, The Times came, and again even though we only planned a private flyer only event we still had 50 to 60 turn up - Jack hooked up a BBQ and got us in the mood, and the vibe was great, albeit that air-time was short as everyone did thier best to get in the air without interfering with anyone elses' FPV links...

So we learn, we grow. Lots of feedback. Main thing is to make sure expectations are managed for FPV frequency sharing when there are lots wanting to race etc. We will probably generally invite teams down for smaller days so they can arrange between them and fly more. The bigger events are always going to be more of a social event to be honest.

At the moment we are just fixing up the mechanics of regular access to Hidden Valley - the farmer was more than happy with how we treated the site and allowed him to manage the working farm with no problems, and was delighted we rescued Nicks machine before the combine harvesters got to it :) He apologised not to have had time to come to shake a few hands etc, but the harvest window was on him!

The sheep enjoyed it.

OK - stay tuned!
